Lowery advocates for a Bitcoin-centric national defense policy, emphasizing that Bitcoin’s PoW mechanism provides unparalleled protection for digital assets without resorting to physical conflict. He argues that using energy to secure wealth is justified, as it ensures the integrity of digital assets in a way that promotes global peace. His ideas have gained renewed attention following Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory, with speculation about potential policy shifts favoring digital assets.
Bitcoin and National Security
Highlighting Bitcoin’s role in cyber sovereignty, Lowery stresses that the US Department of Defense should urgently research Bitcoin’s security benefits. He believes policymakers must understand the unique strengths of Bitcoin compared to other blockchain technologies to develop effective national strategies. Lowery proposes creating a “US Hash Force,” akin to the US Space Force, to ensure secure and dependable access to the Bitcoin network. This initiative could strengthen the country’s cyber defense infrastructure by establishing a robust industry-led hashing sector, supported by the government.
“Mutually Assured Preservation”
In his thesis, Lowery describes Bitcoin as the most efficient non-kinetic power projection tool, framing it as a mechanism for “Mutually Assured Preservation.” This concept suggests that Bitcoin’s security model could balance global power dynamics and promote peace. Lowery argues that strategic Bitcoin reserves must be large enough to secure national interests, far exceeding current legislative proposals.
By advocating for a Bitcoin-centric national defense strategy, Lowery seeks to influence policymakers and push the US to lead in digital asset security.
